Many people know Joe Biden from his political career, namely from his role as Vice President to Barack Obama from 2008 to 2016. His recent election as the provisional 46th President of the United States made him a hot topic on social media. Whilst many people obsessed over how good Joe Biden looked in his 20s, few have noticed that Joe Biden really loves his cars. When he's not doing important political things, he can be seen enjoying life with his two German shepherds and maybe take a drive in his special Chevrolet - we'll get back to that later.

Biden, despite his busy time schedule, has owned some pretty interesting cars. Here are some of the best.

1951 Studebaker Champion

The 1951 Studebaker Champion owned by Biden was the third generation of this American motoring icon. This, along with other models from the Studebaker production line, were some of the first cars to be produced after World War II. The 2.8-litre engine in the '51 Champion belted out 85bhp, receiving a facelift too. The Champion was so popular that it made up 65.08% of the total sales for the automaker in 1947.

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air

The 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air was a facelifted version of the first generation model with a more conventional full-width grille, pleasing those customers who weren't in favor for the Ferrari-inspired '55 front end. The two-tone bodyside treatments and front and rear wheel openings enhance the true meaning of the "speedline" design. Considering that Biden had a reasonable salary, he could probably afford the top-of-the-range variant costing around $2600 which is the equivalent to $24k in 2020.

1952 Plymouth Cranbrook Convertible

Biden had a similar Plymouth to the one in the photo above, with a candy-apple red paint job and a split windscreen. The 97bhp motor powering the Cranbrook is also the one that powers the Cambridge, making use of it in 1951 and 1952. The Cranbrook was designed with the ideas of K.T. Keller, who was the president of the Chrysler, in mind. Keller wanted the car to be practical and to allow the drivers to wear a hat whilst driving.

Mercedes 190SL

Petrolheads rejoice! Joe Biden's Mercedes 190SL already had 100,000 miles on the clock upon purchasing it. We can probably put this down to the fact that he was in college, and also that classic Mercedes bodywork is the stuff of dreams. The 190 SL presented an attractive, more affordable alternative to the exclusive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, sharing similar styling, engineering and independent suspension. The SL badge is something only the best Mercedes have sported. Standing for "Super Leicht," the special badge means a more luxurious, faster and all-round better Mercedes.

1967 Goodwood-green Chevrolet Stingray

Biden got his pride and joy from his father as a wedding gift - that's much better than some kitchen utensils. The 1967 variant was the last in the C2 Corvette range. This 350 bhp classic is Biden's favourite car and has a very lively rear-axle according to the politician. "The Secret Service won’t let me drive it. I’m not allowed to drive anything. It’s the one thing I hate about this job. I’m serious," Biden told Car & Driver. This car is also a beauty to look at with its special Goodwood green paint, it's reminiscent of British Racing Green.

    • He'd probably reply : "No, I meant I want to ban gasoline cars in some states, so that other States can enjoy their gasoline cars."

  • "His recent election as the 46th President to the United States," is not true. News outlets do not certify the election. Joe may win, he may not, but as of right now, he is not the 46th President.
