What is the best car video game?
With so many offerings these days which one should you get?
Let's face it if you're a car enthusiast you're pretty well catered for when it comes to games these days. There are so many options ranging from open-world games such as Forza Horizon 4, and Project cars for those of us who are more serious about our racing.
That being said, with so many great games out there it can sometimes be difficult to find the best one for you, here are some of the best options.
For the serious racer, Project Cars 2
Slightly Mad Studios
For some of us a racing sim has to do just that, be as close to a real-life track experience but on your TV at home. Project Cars 2 is that sim you've always been looking for. Since its initial release back in 2017 this game has been widely regarded as one of the most realistic when it comes to driving dynamics, and accurate weather conditions.
However, while many may say that competing track sims such as Forza Motorsport 7 have a wider variety of tracks and cars, Project Cars 2 remains the go to ultra-realistic racing sim.
For the rally driver, Dirt Rally 2
Back in 2015 developers Codemasters released the first edition of their new game, Dirt Rally. It soon became the industry standard for off-road dynamics and scenery. This game forces you to think like a rally driver, courses are tight and tough, with many distractions along the way. Being a rally driver requires immense skill and concentration, this game asks nothing less of you. Now, while no video game can truly replicate the feeling of chasing an Audi Quatro in a lancia Stratos, this one sure does come close.
For the offroader, Spintires: Mud Runners
While you probably haven't heard of it, this is truly one of the best technical off roading games on sale today. Released just a few years ago Mud Runners is set in the woodlands of Russia, with soviet-era vehicles. The developer has implemented some truly fantastic mud physics, an expansive career mode, and most importantly a wide variety of vehicles.
The customization levels are truly fantastic, with trailers, tankers, and many other attachments available. There is also an immense level of vehicle control. With the ability to activate low range, AWD, and even winches. If you think your a master of the mud be sure to check out Mud Runners.
The best all-rounder, Forza Horizon 4
Let's face it, sometimes you just want to get out there and drive. Since its initial release back in 2012 Forza's Horizon franchise remains one of the best car games out there, period. Now in its fourth iteration Forza Horizon 4 is set in England, and with its expansive map it is truly an immersive experience. With nearly 500 vehicles to choose from this game has a thriving online community, countless races, challenges, and above all free-roam driving.
Furthermore, Forza Horizon 4 is constantly updated with new vehicles and game modes, it allows you to live out your petrol head dreams in one dynamic online environment, something which few other games provide.
