What is the Nations Cup?

Gran Turismo makes it possible represent your own country in the nations cup, but how does it work?

The nations cup is a great way to test your performance and to improve your driving skill, but it can also be a bit confusing at times. In the nations cup you represent your own country and try to work your way up to the finals.

You start with driving a 10 minute qualifying round, in which you try to drive the best time possible. This will determine what position you start at.

Next up is the race, in this race you start in the position of the qualifying, the goal is to win, while in a lot of cases it is not possible because you had a bad qualification, so try to gain a few positions without lowering your SR. This will result in a better race and you will improve your DR.

Point system

This is quite a hard topic because Polyphony hasn't released the exact data on how they award the points so this is just an assumption of what me and other people experienced.

The points are first of all simply based on your position in the race, first position get high and last gets no point. the second thing that the scoring takes in mind is "the strength of field", this is the average driving rating from everybody in the lobby. Your practice and qualifying time also have a major effect on the amount of points earned in a race.

To get a good score it is important to have a good SR and to set a good qualifying time in order to get placed in a lobby with Higher DR drivers. Having the fastest lap also seems to effect the amount of point at the end of a race

Keep in mind that this is still just a theory because polyphony decided to keep the formula a secret for now, this may change in the future.

If you have any suggestions about the point system or disagree with my assumption please do say.

Current seasons

You might have noticed that the current seasons are all test seasons, this gives you the chance to practice these races before the real season starts.
