What Makes The Escape Hybrid A Desireable CSUV?
I had the keys to this Escape for a week. Here are my thoughts.
The Ford Escape has now entered its fourth generation year. For twenty years, Ford has been selling the Escape as a compact crossover SUV. For the longest time, I have always wondered what makes the Escape as good as people make it out to be. What makes the Escape a desireable CSUV? Especially with it being a hybrid. Well, let's find out.
Exterior Styling
"...over-sized smiling egg..."
The Escape, from my point of view, looks like an over-sized smiling egg with a squarish rear end. Honestly, it looks "happier" than the first-generation MX-5. It is almost as if an MX-5 and a Mitsubishi Eclipse slammed into one another and from the wreckage birthed the Escape. For some reason though, it works and is a delight to look at.
Interior Design
"...space within the..."
The interior of the Escape is designed quite elegantly. The plastic, leather, and some metal paneling blend well together. The finishing touch is the turn-dial shifter. There is plenty of space within the cabin as well as the trunk. The seats are comfortable as they should be. The only thing I have a problem with is that the seats don't offer the support while turning into not so tight bends. Comfortable? Yes. Supportive? Not so much. But only when it comes to turning around corners.
Pricing and Options
So, how much does this Ford Escape cost? After everything being added up, the total price comes to $34,840. What does that come with? Well for safety, the Escape comes with AdvanceTrac with RSC, multiple airbags, SOS post-crash alert system, reverse sensing system, pedestrian alert sounder, rear-view camera, Ford Co-Pilot 360, adaptive cruise control, and tire pressure monitoring system. For comfort and convenience, the Escape comes with a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, heated front seats, sat-nav, and a power liftgate.
Performance
"...can handle itself..."
Under the hood is a 2.5L four-cylinder mated to a hybrid system. Power is sent to all four wheels through the ECVT transmission. Speaking of power, the Escape nearly 200 horsepower. But that doesn't matter. I was able to achieve 38 miles per gallon with my driving habits. Ride comfort is great. The suspension keeps everything nice and in place to allow no drama. Paired with the seats, this lets the inhabitants take long journeys without having any aches or pains. The steering is light. Braking is pretty sharp. To sum it up, the Escape can handle itself pretty well.

Conclusion
"...cup of tea..."
The Escape Hybrid is a desireable CSUV because it has a great fuel economy and that it is reasonably priced. Not only that, but the Escape offers great ride comfort. I would have to say, it wouldn't be my cup of tea to buy. I also would say that it is a great choice for a family vehicle. I wouldn't overlook the Escape as a choice to buy for the family. Again, it is comfortable for those long vacations, plenty of cabin space, and it offers great fuel economy. I can see why this CSUV is desired by many.

It looks like a Kia 🤮
It does a bit.
I'm not sure "smiling egg" is a plus for me.
But it does look it.
Please don’t ever use “desirable” and “CSUV” in the same sentence again. Ever.
Are you in the US? At least from where I am, theres an abundance of CSUVs and the Escape is one of them on the road.
You're not wrong, but there's also a lot of people wearing crocs where I'm from. Allow me the indulgence of looking down my grouchy nose at the unwashed masses and their lack of taste.
It's adorable! Lol I would definitely want one.
@tribe New article is up! What do you think? Would you get an Escape?
