If your birthday, like mine, happens to fall in the cold winter months party options are limited. Barbecues are definitely out and, given that I live on a boat which is currently being battered by storm force winds, having friends over would no doubt have resulted in sea sickness! Add to that a course of antibiotics for a dental extraction with instructions not to drink, and my birthday options really were limited.
I noticed that the car park of the Ace Cafe was deathly quiet in January, so asked if I could hijack my birthday night the following month for my own car meet. There are always a few diehard petrolheads willing to brave a cold February evening.
Our small but select group was made up of old friends from Petrolhead Nirvana, a club which was wound up 4 years ago, and new friends from the Drivers Union Supercar Club. Not a bad turnout considering the freezing conditions.
Big thanks to everybody who braved the cold to help me celebrate my birthday and to the Ace Cafe staff for being their usual, wonderful selves and for not setting fire to the cake :-)
