  • Well. There's a story behind mine. I always thought that they were a bit pretentious and couldn't see the point of them.

My Dad had a personalised plate. He and I have the same initials. His love of rallying and us having an MKiii Escort XR3i in white, followed by a MKiii facelift Escort XR3i, plus Mki and Mkii Toyota MR2s is where I got my love of cars from.

Towards the end of the 2000s, Dad became quite seriously ill. By the end of 2010, he was very poorly indeed. In an attempt to cheer myself up, I went to see a good friend of mine at Renault and got myself a pre registered Renault Wind (Great little car)

Dad passed away on 18th May 2011.

We had a fair bit of sorting out to do, and I ended up inheriting his personalised registration plate. I initially decided that I didn't want it and put it up for sale. That was until the logbook for the Wind came through. The car was registered on Dad's last birthday before he died.

I still have the plate on my current car (Renault Megane Sports Tourer as we now have a 2 year old) and I won't part with it.

    • Dan, thank you so much for sharing your story.

It’s a beautiful example of when the car world and emotions meet.

      Thanks again,
