What's the fastest you've ever travelled in a car?

It’s a simple question, with a figure on the end of it that signifies an automotive adventure into uncharted personal territory: what’s the fastest you’ve ever travelled in a car? Every enthusiast sets themselves a speed benchmark to achieve one day, only for it to immediately be replaced by a higher target as soon as the existing one has been reached.

Speaking from a personal perspective, I got my first taste of serious speed at the age of 12 from the passenger seat of an Ultima GTR. Up until that point, the fastest I’d ever travelled was roughly 65-70mph, and I was yearning to see what the world looked like at 100mph. The moment I saw the Ultima’s speedometer shoot passed 100mph, I took one savouring gaze out of the window, and that was it: I wanted to do 150mph!
I kept my eyes pointed forward, watching the world begin to blur rapidly. Every now and again, I’d glance back at the speedo, seeing the number rise at an alarming rate. Before I knew it, I had surpassed 150mph.

The speed continued to climb in a manner that I found utterly entrancing, until eventually, we had to brake. At that point, the needle was sitting just shy of 170mph. To this day, that’s the fastest I’ve ever travelled in a car. But despite the 12 years between then and now, the desperate urge I acquired that day to achieve 200mph has never subsided.

I don’t expect you to disclose information regarding whether your personal record run was on the road or not; that would be preposterous. Ooooo one time I got my old Isuzu amigo up to 30 mph and that was life changing

Funny actually, when you hit the top speed in a Tesla it goes over 250 for like a few seconds and then realizes that you are not supposed to do that and the electronic limiter stops it; the brake lights actually come on. So if you ever see a Tesla driving down the autobahn which appears to be constantly breaking at 250kph, well now you know why it does that.
The 1st time I hit 100mph was when i was 18 in my 1990 Camaro RS. The thing rattled and shook so much. It felt like I was re-entering the earth atmosphere in an Apollo capsule.

I got up to 157mph in a porsche 996 once, and just today I reached the ludicrous speed of 156kmph in my old Panda 4x4
150 mph Dodge Challenger! This one to be exact!
