What’s your favourite fuel? Apart from the occasional splash and dash, I’m 99 octane. Anyone use octane boosters/additives?

  • Shell VPower. A BMW mechanic advised me not to put Booster into the fuel. If you do it you should do it constantly because it reads the Octane and does some adjustments ( don’t remember exactly which ones).

    • I don’t use boosters anymore, was just curious if they were still a thing. Left that in my younger Impreza days haha, however I tend to stick to Momentum these days, good for 310 to 330 miles per tank whereas V-Power gets me about 270.

  • 87. It took a while to convince me, but the M70B50 really was designed to run on 87, and I can’t detect any difference in performance or economy from running 93. All my other BMW’s have been fed with 93.

  • I never use Aditives since some cars aren´t exactly ready for them (NEVER refuel in a farming coop gas station, your engine WILL get screwed) I prefer to use Regular on my daily

  • Either 99 Shell VPower or 99 Tesco Momentum, I find I get better mpg with Momentum. I have never used fuel with an octane rating less that 99 in my current car.

    • I much prefer Momentum over V-Power, and reckon it’s good for an extra 40 miles per tank. My pal who has a lightly modded and remapped Cupra says he gets 60 miles more a tank with Momentum. Also 10p a litre cheaper which helps.
