What's your most recent car crush?
I've fallen in love once again...
I've fallen in love. It hasn't been love at first sight, it happened gradually, day by day, like that girl or boy you keep seeing in the bus you take every day. She grabs your attention at some point, you wander on about her life, secretly hoping to get noticed... A bad crush, made of glances and coy smiles, but hence you realize you want to get closer.
Since a few months I changed my usual work commute and she was there, waiting for me passing by every day in the early afternoon. She's not exactly in her green years, not sensual and curvy, neither tiny and adorable, but I've fallen helplessly for her. She's beautiful, even though she's not perfect, her lines aren't too smooth, but volitive, she seems to be full of character and I can easily figuring me driving with her.
Taking her on the Amalfitan coast, enjoying the breeze and the magnificent view, or to drive with her on the flat and bumpy roads near my hometown in a sunny day, with the hot tarmac running under the wheels and the horizon in front blurred by the sultriness of the Emilia Romagna's summer. She would look marvelous on the streets of Rome as well, and would be so much fun going on a holiday with her, driving on the Stelvio Pass for example. I can easily imagine to travel across Provence with her, with the perfume of lavander filling the air and the lushious looks of the peasants looking at her passing by... But it's an impossible love, she's too classy for me, even if she doesn't look too pretentious, she's strong but delicate, needy even and she's not mine, but nevertheless she sneaked into my mind and I'm craving for her.
No, she's not my potential new girlfriend, we're on Drivetribe after all, she's a beautiful Mercedes Benz 350 SL, classy, comfortable enough for road trips but also good looking and powerful thanks to the V8 engine.
My heart gets tachycardia only at the thought of how much it would cost me her insurance, and my pockets cries at the idea of the fuel consumption of such a car, especially here in Italy were fuel costs almost as much as like liquid gold. I won't even think about emissions, that in a city like Rome are subject of very hard restrictions, and I don't even dare to ask the price to the actual owner who keeps it parked outside his workshop, so I can look at her every day, admiring her chromed details, her pretty colour (a sort of metalized light blue) her hard top that would be so pleasant in these sunny days and sigh because I'm broke...
Such an impossible love ah!
And what about you? What's the car that makes your heart beat in these days? The one you would love so badly to own, the one you can figure yourself driving daily with?
