When good guys "GO!" bad in the name of cinema
When you want to create a movie about go karting in Australia, it would appear the go-to people for technical advice, stunt drivers and more is a mix between the Flatout Karts and Arise Racing in Western Australia.
While the normally good guys out at Arise Racing were the basis for the antagonist ultra-competitive champion team who like to win at all costs, the teams involvement in the movie went much deeper than just a location.
The Arise Racing team provided uniforms, race suits and other props, plus their own mechanical crew were used in the movie as extras in workshop scenes. The team also worked on script reviews, technical consulting, stunt driving and assisted with the co-ordination of the extras.
Head driver coach BD Soutar-Dawson was also involved in the stunt driving and followed the cast around to all sets and tracks consulting with them and giving technical advice. Driver coach Sam Dicker from Fastlane Racing was also a driver and competitor in the film.
Over at Flatout Karts, Greg Dicker and family supplied 5 brand new Arrow karts with assistance from DPE Kart Technology, engines, spares and technical advice. Greg's children Sam and Tayla were also stunt drivers and gave advice to the lead actors about how to look the part with tools and the karts.
Other drivers involved included Chase Hoy and Braedyn Bowra both previous karting champions.
