Since Rowena and I started doing Rowena's Supercars I've been thinking about the lack of cars on our T.V screens. When I (Rowena's Dad) was a kid we had 'Magnum', A-Team Van, The Fall Guy Pick Up, Hardcastle & MCcormick (I'll remind you about that in weeks to come), The Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, Knight Rider...... the list goes on. I think this is one of the reasons why kids these days aren't interested in cars as much as we were! The one I want to talk about this week is Miami Vice and their Daytona Spyder.

There was the 2 hero cops Crocett & Tubbs, but the biggest hero was the Ferrari Daytona!! Yes I wore no socks in my shoes, had my sleeves rolled up thinking I was Crockett.... But one thing I didn't have was his Ferrari Daytona!! This car was awesome, until it was in a race with a Lamborghini Countach, a white one if I remember rightly.

While writting this story, I found out a secret about Crocketts Daytona..... for the first two seasons it wasn't a Ferrari Daytona at all!!!! I'm like.... you're joking!! NO it was a Daytona Kit Car with a chassis from a 'Chevrolet Corvette' C3 chassis with fake Daytona Panels. Cheap skates!! They conned us all!! Ferrari got so upset with this that they filed a law suit against the producers of the kit car, and during the start of season three it got blown up!! Then the car of choice for 'Crockett was a Ferrari Testarossa, which for some reason I never remembered.

The specifications of the Daytona, which means nothing now as they had a 'Corvette'! Was a traditional front-engined, rear-drive car. Great for real drivers who like to have fun!

The engine, known as the Tipo 251, V12 capable of 174 mph 0-60 mph acceleration was just 5.4 seconds.

The five-speed manual transmission .

Next week I'll look into Rowena's Favorite 'KITT' from Knight Rider!
