When the #64 Corvette pulled the upset.
Well, it's 4th of July, so it seems only right to dig up some photos from my archive, rewinding the clock back to the 2015: the first 24hrs Of Le Mans I ever photographed, and year which saw Corvette Racing's #64 car take a GTE Pro class win which looked unlikely on the Thursday night before. I thought I'd post mainly rear shots, because that's probably the same view the other GTE's had...
But what about the #63 car?
Given the way that the GTE Pro class tends to battle-royal brawl it's way through a 24 hour race, it could be argued that qualifying didn't really matter that much (remember how those BMW's got into the top 3 on Saturday during this years race?), it doesn't take away from the assumption that it's a huge blow for a team when it's quicker qualifying car has to withdraw from the race from damage sustained in a qualifying crash. This is unfortunately what happened to the #63 car when it hit the wall at the famous Porsche Curves.
On a lighter note, during the red flag, I did this!
