Who else really wants one of these Alfa Romeo Giulia GT restomods?

Is this the Singer for Alfa Romeos?

The 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged Ferrari V6 found in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is without question, a great engine a fantastic engine. But, what if you put it in an old Alfa instead?

These renders show a restomodded Alfa Romeo Giulia GT that now goes by the name 'GT Veloce' by Emilia Auto. In order to make one of these, Emilia Auto has to restore the bodywork of an old Giulia and add wider arches on it – which must be a painful and delicate process.

It's not just the arches they do either, as Emilia Auto also adds carbon fibre doors, trunk lid, front wings, and front and rear bumper.

The exterior is one thing, but the engine is really what you want to hear about. In the heart of this beast is the Giulia Quadrifoglio's 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 505hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. This restomod has been fitted with the same eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox too so it can handle all that power – which will feel even more as the car only weighs 1,250kg.

In order to make sure the whole car can cope with these significant power upgrades, this restomod has been fitted with independent suspension with double wishbones at the front, a multi-link rear axle, KW coil-overs at all four corners, and a set of Brembo brakes so it can stop with ease. It also features some rather nifty looking 19-inch alloy wheels.

Unlike the original Giulia GT, this one features modern tech such as ABS and traction control, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, and an infotainment system.

At this stage, it is purely in render-form, but Emilia Auto plans to reveal this modern Giulia GT by the end of 2022. Just 22 units will be made, each costing around €400,000.

Will this be worth the money?

  • I prefer what Alfaholics have done by a lot, but this is definitely better than one of those crappy EV swaps that ruin the car's character.

  • I would say so. This is one HOT mama. I'd rock it. Beat it. Put it away wet.

  • I wouldn't kick it out of my garage, but while not the fastest I think a high winding n/a four with a six speed stick would be more appropriate.

  • One word, "render".

  • 1250 Kg ? That's not far from twice the weight of an original Giulia GTA (700 Kg). Probably better go back to drawing board.
