Guatemala is a small country, located in the north part of Central America. We are known as "The Land of Eternal Spring" because it's basically always spring. I love Guatemala, it is my home, and I love it even more when I'm driving.
No matter if you are driving to the south coast (the picture up there was took going there), or if you are driving towards the highlands, there is always a volcano looking at you (there are 36, and three of them active). Even if you are stressed and mad because of the slow moving and some times life threatening trucks or by the annoyingly slow and noisy bikes, those volcanoes will keep your mind in peace, because they will keep you admiring their majestic size or eventual eruptions they make; the road is so perfect, that you wouldn't mind to drive though it in a Prius (or maybe you will).
My favorite place to drive is the Panamerican Highway, with an average of 2,500 meters above sea level, and curvy roads it is the perfect place to enjoy the power of a car great sports car (a 911 for example); if you stop at the side of the highway to take a rest, you'll be able to see three volcanoes and Lake Atitlán catalogued by National Geographic as the most beautiful lake in the world. The ideal time to travel through the country is in November; at sunset hour and in that kind of road on the ideal car, you'll be experimenting a little bit of paradise. The views you'll find while driving through the country are simply staggering, I see views like the ones in the pictures almost every day when I drive from my house and descent to the city, but it's imposible to get used to them. The beauty I found every day on the road is the main reason of why I love Guatemala.
