Will Toyota Return to Need For Speed? The Answer Might Be Yes

It's about time that Toyota returned to a racing game franchise that it was a part of for 20 years.

In case you don't already know, yesterday Forza announced that Toyota would be coming back to the Forza Horizon series. The A80 Supra RZ will be coming into Forza Horizon 4 on December 10th.

This is great news for the racing game community but considering the fact that I don't play Forza, and couldn't care less about the series, this does nothing except make me ponder why Toyota isn't in my favorite racing game franchise, Need For Speed. To me Toyota needs to be in Need For Speed, a game with great customization and not just those generic, crappy Forza bits. Also, cars like the Supra were made famous by games like NFS Underground. Fortunately for us NFS fans, it seems that Toyota is planning to come to our beloved franchise.

This news comes from @nfsmemes1 on Instagram, and here is their post.

This is Toyota's main account it seems like, and not Toyota UK's account who so famously said that Toyota doesn't want their cars in games that promote illegal street racing despite not knowing the true reason, so this seems like this claim could actually hold some water.

Need For Speed has made it known on Twitter that they are waiting for Toyota to call and for good reason too. They have been very frustrated with Toyota for the last 2 years and have been throwing shade at them for being so stubborn about it like putting "Tootya" in NFS Payback. Also because of Toyota's moronic decsion, Need For Speed has had to deal with people who can't grasp the concept of licensing around their heads and blame them for being a terrible game because Toyota isn't in the game like it was in 2015.

Do you think Toyota will comeback to the NFS franchise? Let me know in the comments.

  • Let's hope they can use some common sense

  • If they are going to be in Forza it means something must have changed with licensing so I would hope that means they will start to appear in more games

  • Promising response from Toyota, let's hope Ghost can work out a deal as well!

    • Well as a said earlier, it seems likely considering Toyota has told us to be patient. It’s also worth noting that the first live service update for Heat should hopefully be coming soon.

    • Hope the update does come soon, I've already dropped an unhealthy amount of time into this game, loving it so far

  • Toyota had a strict licensing with Gran Turismo making Gran Turismo the only game available to use their cars. I speculate the licensing might’ve finished assuming the year is about to end.

This is only what I have heard, none of this might be true. Just like the Toyota not wanting their cars used for street racing.

    • I’d doubt there was a deal between them and Gran Turismo because during this whole ordeal they were in Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 which released in July of 2018 which would’ve been during the time that they would’ve had that strict deal...

    • This is just what I heard from some people. Though it might be the most realistic conclusion I still dont believe in it.

  • I think that nfs memes post is fake. And but I think, I mean I'm pretty sure. I checked on Forza's main post and there is no reply and I can't find that John account neither.
