Will you need a driving licence in the age of self-driving cars?
It's a question that has been going around
You may be thinking that self-driving cars a thing of the future, but it is actually a lot closer than you think. In the next few years we all could be seeing self-driving cars on roads and even having their own lanes. If you haven't yet you should read up on our post about self-driving cars having their own lanes and what they will be used for
As well as self-driving vehicles they will also have them for making deliveries. That's right you could have a self-driving delivery vehicle showing up at your door. I'm really not sure how this is going to work but really keen to hear more updates about this

So the answer to the question is yes you will still need a drivers licence to ride in the drivers seat in case anything happens like the vehicle collides with another vehicle or even goes off-road the person in the drivers seat need to be able to regain control. This means the driver can't really get distracted as they may only have very short notice to take control of the vehicle.

Personally, I like the idea of self-driving cars but I don't think I could just sit back and let it do it's thing. I would be paranoid that something would go wrong and if it's traveling at high speeds I would have to take control. There was already a report of them getting confused by Kangaroos in Australia. You can read about that below
So what are your thoughts on self-driving cars? Think it's a good thing to have or a waste of time and money? Would love to hear your opinion so leave a comment below with your thoughts and opinions.

Second that Sussex Vixen...until they make them tamper proof and without steering wheels....
One would hope that at that point, AI would be developed enough not to need us!
Of course you should still have a licence! If it malfuctions, you'll still need to know how to take control and how the road system works. Robotics are amazing, but essentially, until AI becomes smart enough to fix it's own issues, a human touch is going to be needed.
You can bet that there will be still road rage because the system has been giving preference to other cars, we just can't help ourselves.
