There's Custom Cars, Over the Top Custom Cars - and there's "Grachan" Style. Named after the "Gran Champion" Group 5 Racing Car of the 1980s. The Nissan Skyline Silhouette was probably the most famous of those.

These also sometimes also referred to as "Bosozoku" or "Shakotan", though there are differences between these styles. And sometimes, they use a bit of everything with hilarious results.

But typically, a Grachan car will be based on an old family barge like the Cedric, which is then stanced and adorned with purely cosmetic aero parts. It's all a bit of fun and not meant to be taken too seriously.

Aoshima have made a whole bunch of these models over the years, and I find them quite good fun.
