Woman Who Was Kidnapped Escaped Because She Knew How To Drive Stick
Not to mention being insanely smart, brave, and coolheaded during the whole ordeal.
20 year old Jordan Dinsmore had likely one of the most harrowing stories that humanity could tell. She was kidnapped at gunpoint. To make matters worse, these sickos also told her that she would be raped. Just think about that for a second. What would you even do? Would you cry out for help? Stay quiet and do what the armed assaliant says? It's an insane situation that no one hopes they are ever in. Jordan found herself in it, but she possesed a skill that the kidnappers didn't.
According to the police report, after her late night shift at a restaurant, Dinsmore was walking back to her car. She was then ambushed by 3 armed men demanding she get into the car. "I was pleading with them to just take my stuff and let me go, but they said that I had to come with them," she told reporters. It was then that one of the men ran off because they didn't know how to drive stick.
Well after that, now armed with this knowledge, Dinsmore drove to that ATM and left her seatbelt unfastened after she withdrew the maximum amount of $300. They then told her to drive to a house. Once she had the car up to 35mph, she popped it into neutral and bailed out the front door leaving the car rolling with the 2 other scumbags in there. As the car crashed off the road, they ran off as Dinsmore called for help.
The manual transmission is slowing going the way of the dinosaur, but there are many instances like this where people have no idea how to drive a stick and then run off. As Jordan put it so eloquently, "I'm going to be driving a manual for the rest of my life." Us too Jordan. You're in good company.
Long live the stick.
