We asked for your help to name the brilliant women in motorsport. Now we will take a closer look, and share a new trading card every week! This week the amazing Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky is our muse!

Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, born the 13th of November 1992, is a Swedish racing driver. She was born into a motorsport family, with her grandfather Freddy Kottulinsky, who won the Paris-Dakar Rally in 1980. Her mother, Susanne Kottulinsky, won the European Championship in Rally and her father, Jerry Åhlin, won the Junior Swedish Rally Championship. She also has a brother, Fredrik Ahlin, who have a goal to become World Rally Champion.

You may think she she had an interest in motorsport from the beginning, but til she was about 12 years old, Mikaela absolutely hated everything to do with motorsport, and prefered gymnastics and dancing.

At the age of 12 she took over her brother’s old go kart, and that’s how it all started. After 7 years in karting, a win 2005 in the final of MKR, 4th place in the Swedish Championship in Rotax Max 2009, and many podiums, Mikaela stepped up to touring car racing. She took part in FIA Women in Motorsport's shootout, where she finished second and got the chance to race in Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup 2012, which she took part of for 3 series.

In 2014 she has become the first woman in history to win a race of Volkswagen supported championship. At the end of the 2014 season, Volkswagen decided to end their one make cup racing. Audi took their place and started a new series for 2015, the Audi Sport TT Cup. 165 drivers applied for the series, and 18 drivers, including Mikaela were chosen to compete in the cup.
