Pointless piece of tarmac. Put it on your list, but only because, if you plan your trip right, you'll experience far, far better driving roads on your way there and back. Iconic, certainly, but way, way down the list of best roads in the region, let alone the country/continent/world
I also have to echo previous comments... unless you get there very very early it's a slow moving car park. I much prefer the other side of the pass... smoother and the hairpins aren't as tight which makes for a more useable road.

Couldn't agree more - the Bormio side is far better than the switchbacks, and turn off 2/3 way up and take the Umbrail Pass

Great road, done it twice now. Should be on every petrolheads bucket list.
