The original Mini is a highly-sought after car for classic collectors, but also by those who spent their childhood wedged in the back seats of their mum and dad's pride and joy. Woodham Mortimer has what could possibly be the world's most original Mini up for sale - and it's practically brand spanking new.

With just 272 miles on the clock, it's as good as new

This beautiful 1968 Mk1 Morris Mini-Mini Super De Luxe has just 272 miles on its odometer and is offered in perfect condition, just as it would've been some 50 years ago. The timing of the sale is very good as it's currently Mini's 60th anniversary year, making it a hot-item for collectors.

Built in 1967 and registered in 1968, this car was one of the last Mk1 Minis to roll off the Morris production line. A lady named Mrs B Jones purchased the car from new in order to use it as her learn-to-drive vehicle. After a successful test, it was safely stored in a garage until it was auctioned off by her family a few years ago.

Small details, such as stickers have remained intact over the years

This stunning example has had several details preserved, such as door strikers, which were painted in Old English White to match the bodywork - something which even the most skilled restorers of today struggle to preserve as they become chipped and rust-ridden.

The original Tartan Red interior is in a pristine condition - this is usually fades with sunlight and general wear and tear but in this car, it's as bright as it was when it rolled off the production line in 1968. The seat belts even have the original pre-delivery inspection labels attached.

This cutesy classic can be viewed at Woodham Mortimer's Maldon showoom in Essex, but is not expected to be on sale for long.

  • My dad has a friend who has two of these that were imported from Fiji to Surrey B.C. and I enjoyed the rides in these cars even if I was cramped and weighed it down a good bit

  • Loved them although I never owned one. I remember in Hong Kong getting in my friend's and closing the door by holding the top. He drove off with my fingers still outside! I guess I was lucky it wasn't built to today's standards.

  • The current crop of modern collectors are likely to buy it for a rediculous sum, turn it into a Cooper replica, and then do an EV conversion. I guess then at least it might get used.
