Would You Roll Around In This Orange Blob?

Every once in a while, while browsing through the auction listings and classified ads, I'll spot a car so special, and so unusual, that it just catches my attention, just like this orange... thing did. This is a 1968 Ferves 4x4, imported to the States from Italy in May 2019.

This mini 4x4 is powered by a miniscule rear, mounted 500cc engine making just under 20 horsepower, with 18 being the more realistic number. That mighty engine is paired with a 4 speed manual sending power to all 4 wheels.

This thing is quite unique, and as such, it has many, many unique features such as removable doors, a fold up windshield, a snap on soft top with windows that roll up and down, and a nice steel beam chassis. The bright orange paint was a repaint done in 2018.

The four wheel independent suspension is shared with the Fiat 600, and the tires seem to be for offroad uses, which is pretty funny considering the 18 horsepower engine powering this blob. In case you get a flat during the offroading adventures, a spare tire is mounted behind the rear bench seating for emergencies.
