Carrol Shelby's futuristic concept is looking for a new home

5w ago

In 2004, Carroll Shelby presented the Cobra concept car to Ford. While at the time the concept didn't make it to production, Ford used design cues from the concept in the Mustang.

The concept is rather gorgeous and featured a 6.4-liter V10 engine. It had front and rear suspension from the Ford GT

Built on an all-aluminum space frame chassis, the concept was nicknamed Daisy. The car had Brembo brakes, carbon fiber splitters, rockers, rear diffuser and a bespoke billet aluminum front structure.

Carroll Shelby did a number of high-speed runs in this concept and said: “It turned out just beautiful, didn’t it? I’m very happy with the car. At 81 years old, how lucky can you get to be part of a continuation of something that happened 40 years ago? It’s going to be a real ass kicker!”

This lovely concept car will be available at Mecum auctions in Monterey, California between August 12-14, 2021. We expect the car to fetch many millions.

  • Good idea in concept but for me the styling is a poorly integrated set of ideas and misses the mark - it has not aged too well either. I’m not surprised it didn’t make it to production although it could have been a great drive if it had? Rarity and Shelby provenance will make it quite valuable and probably a good investment for those with deep pockets.
