You could own an Overfinch Range Rover for £10k!

Is this the ultimate SUV bargain?

Range Rovers have evolved into something of a bargain in the luxury SUV segment on the secondhand market. If you're willing to put up with galactic levels of mileage, you can pick up a good one for stupidly cheap money. This one though, whilst not being the cheapest good one you can find in the classifieds, is definitely the one that gets you the most for your money. That's because it's no ordinary Range Rover...

If that buldging bodykit, subtle rear spoiler, huge exhausts and rear badging already didn't give it away to you, this is an Overfinch Range Rover. These are some of the top level Range Rovers, usually bought by people with serious amounts of money to burn. The customisation available from Overfinch is almost limitless and they can easily cost well into the hundreds of thousands of pounds new. This 2011 example, however, is currently listed at just £9,995!

Why is it this cheap? Well, it's done over 120k miles. It also has the TDV8 engine rather than the supercharged petrol V8 and its grey exterior with beige and black interior is somewhat understated compared to over Overfinches of the era that have been knocking around. That doesn't make it any less awesome of a luxury SUV proposition however, especially when it can be driven away for that little money!

The car has a full service history, has never been smoked in and comes with all the kit you could possibly want or get on an early 2010s Range Rover. That includes things such as all round parking sensors, a reversing camera, navigation, bluetooth and all the typical Land Rover off-road toys you could possibly want. I bet those quilted leather seats are very nice to sit in too! Whilst it's not got the ultimate performance option of the supercharged petrol V8, the TDV8 is definitely the more sensible option for daily driving.

Should you take a punt on this Overfinch if you have 10k to spend on a luxury car? I'd definitely say so! The only other kind of options you'll find at this price level in the luxury car or luxury SUV segment would be something like a 10+ year old Mercedes S-Class or a later model example of the VW Phaeton. Whilst that's a very good option if you're not keen on the idea of having such a boisterious SUV, I feel that this is a much more inspired choice. It's a ridiculously cheap way into a very exclusive brand and people will think you're a lot richer than you actually are. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to you.

  • I can't answer the poll because I don't know! I'm torn! I'm not an SUV fan but the Overfinch Rangies were definitely cool and THIS is definitely a Poverty Petrolheads post! Reposting for you! :)

  • About twice a year I price shop older Range Rovers, and each time, talk myself down. I drove one after their first major update in styling and tech in 2004, and have always loved the brand. This one here is a great specimen! But I doubt buying even the best of these pre-owned RRs are worth the trouble that's bound to come.

    • If you get one that's got a full service history from a main dealer you should be alright. You'll know it's been properly looked after and so long as you keep taking it back to the dealer for services and repairs they'll be able to do some...
