You'll have to spend £19k on the new BMW S1000RR if you don't like red
BMW has launched the configurator for the 2019 S1000RR, and after having a bit of a fiddle we've found a bit of a problem with the new bike.
It's only available in two colours for the first year: red and HP Motorsport (that's the classic red, white and blue combo). The small choice of colours is exacerbated by the fact that the funky HP Motorsport colours are only available on top-spec M Sport models, which will set you back a chunky £18,960 in the UK.
Go for the entry-level £14,935 RR model or the slightly tricker £16,345 RR Sport version and you'll be stuck with red – there aren't any other colour options on these versions.
The zazzy multi-coloured M Sport model does get a whole bunch of other cool stuff to help you justify the premium over the RR and RR Sport versions – chief of which are carbon fibre wheels. But we bet a lot of people stump up the extra on their monthly payment to get the fancy colour – and who could blame them? We're all tarts after all…
