Dear Aunt Heidi, Ive had a Volvo 850 turbo in my family since I was born. My parents bought it when I was born and it later became my first car. I still have it but I am starting to recognize the inherent problems of owning an old car. I really love the car and would hate to get rid of it, but at the same time I’m not sure for how long I can keep paying to keep the poor thing alive. Over the years I have worked on it and now it’s my favorite sleeper in the world, pushing nearly 300 hp to the wheels. At the same time, maintenance last year cost nearly $3000. Do you think I should just pull the plug and replace my old Volvo, or should I maintain my old family car? Thanks, John
I can see how much you love your Volvo. My heart says you should keep her forever but I don’t know your Financial situation or the practicality side of it for you.
If we were thinking with our heads I would say you need to sit down & write a pro’s & con’s list out for getting a new car. If your pro’s out weigh the con’s it’s time to move on. Or your love might be too deep for your old car & you will just ignore common sense like all true petrol heads do 😜
