I was interested to hear Jeremy Clarkson's opinion on driverless cars being bullied in the second episode of The Grand Tour tonight. Yes, this is true, pedestrians could potentially bully driverless cars and stand in their path and block them. However, I would argue that the person blocking would be at risk of annoying the occupant of the car to the point of risking a punch up! I should imagine the novelty would wear off after a while too. lol :)
I've been saying something similar for a while. I have kids and if you were in your teens you'd come up with a whole host of new challenges for autonomous cars. My thought was a bucket of chaff dumped from an overpass on a busy traffic day but that's just one of numerous unforseen challenges ahead...
But I think that software will be built in eventually to detect if the car is being 'harassed' and if it thinks it is, it'll go into shutdown mode, put on its hazards and text the owner. If you waited for 1/2 hour you could probably text your car to wake up and proceed on its journey. The pranksters would probably have got bored by then!
