The history of the marque McLaren
In 1963-66, the first McLaren crest was designed in 1964, featuring a Kiwi, the national symbol of Bruce’s homeland, New Zealand. From 1967-80, the more dynamic ‘Speedy Kiwi’ was introduced in 1967and also took on a striking papaya orange colour which familiarly became known as ‘McLaren Orange’. 1981-90, the McLaren international logo inspired by the chequered flag. 1991-97, the McLaren logo changed fro three chevrons to one. 1997-02, the logo's new design featured a streamlined speedmark which bares similarities to the vortices created by our rear wing. 2002-17, the speedmark with which is associate McLaren, was retained, updated with a more modern and stylish look. 2017-21, entering the mono black speedmark and returning to the iconic ‘McLaren Orange’ racing livery. 2021, the speedmark has turned papaya, symbolising the digital environment.
